| - Before heading to a nearby event, decided to check out Full Spectrum Brewing. Ordered two Flights to try all twelve beers on tap.
Quality
I was unimpressed with the offerings at Full Spectrum Brewing. They had twelve beers on tap and by the end of our second Flight I was convinced I didn't need to try a single one again. The beers we had were Das Kupfer Altbier, Kentucky Thoroughbred Common, Lime Green Mexican Lager, Ultraviolet, Perfect Grey Pub Ale, Freedom, White Ice Winter Warmer BBA 2017, I'mRonBurgandy?, Blues & Royals English IPA, Beach Blonde, Upstate Orange Wheat, and Crimson Amber. My favorite of the bunch was Upstate Orange Wheat, a witbier with a nice citrus flavor. However, this is far from my favorite style of beer, so my enjoyment may in part be from low expectations. On the other end I hated Ultraviolet, a double IPA. Honestly, I would have had no idea it was meant to be an IPA from my sample. It lacked the hoppiness that I expect and honestly felt flat. I also did not like or understand White Ice Winter Warmer BBA 2017. This stout lacked body and seemed to be almost attacking my taste buds with different elements. Sometimes less can be more.
Quantity
We selected Flights that came with six 4oz pours. Some pours were definitely better than others, as it was clear the bartender was rushing beers out.
Value
There was no discount for selecting a Flight, it was simply $2 per pour. A decent price, but I believe they should consider additional discounts when ordering a larger selection.
Ambiance
Full Spectrum Brewing is located in Fort Mill area of South Carolina. It is found in an office park area right off the highway. The brewery is in a large brick building that looks very nice from the outside. A few small tables are located out front, but it is not a well defined outdoor area. Inside it is a large high ceiling open space. The walls are painted dark and the ceiling lights are that terrible florescent that gives you a headache. The layout has lots of seating across the tap room and a large bar along the back wall. There are a few televisions with the middle one showing the beers on tap, but it was almost impossible to read. In the far right area they had the actual equipment, which is visible from almost anywhere in the place. In the background they were playing southern and alternative rock, which while not my favorite, but expected in South Carolina.
Crowd
On Saturday afternoon there was a decent crowd at the brewery. It was a few big groups and most looked like locals. I also noticed that several were wearing gear from the brewery, so I assume it is their go-to spot.
Service
There were two people behind the bar, but only one of them appeared to be working. And with a decent crowd, this kept the process very slow. We certainly did not help by ordering flights, but neither did the couple in front of us who sampled around eight beers before finally selecting a pair they liked.
Parking
The brewery is located in a large building in a quiet office park, so parking is plentiful.
Extra
Full Spectrum Brewing falls into the lower tier of breweries I have visited. The beer did not impress me, the prices were not great, and it just was not a fun space to hang out in. With so many other breweries throughout the area, there are definitely better options out there.
