When you go to ostrich fest, seeing the ostrich races is a must. Plan to arrive at least half and hour before the show to get your seat. The show is not super long, maybe a half an hour. The best part was watching the people actually ride an ostrich and race them like horses. Funniest thing ever.
I tried the ostrich burger, a first time ostrich tasting experience. It was really good. A little sweeter than beef and it was so much more flavorful than any other red meat I eaten.
The rides and games area is a little chaotic and very crowded. It's your typical carnie atmosphere, carnie rides and traditional carnie food. Try a deep dried anything. I had the deep fried cookie dough. If you like soft baked cookies you'll like this. Über rich, I could really only eat about half a stick before my stomach started yelling at me about what the eff are you feeding me!?! The funnel cakes and churros are made to order and really good, can't go wrong with fried dough covered in sugar.
Tips:
-Wear sunscreen and/or bring a hat. There's not a lot of shade when your walking around or sitting to watch the shows.
-Groups/families of four (2 adults & 2 kids), get your family passes at Fry's food and drug (local grocery store) it's cheaper than getting them at the park.
-Kids under 42" cannot ride select rides without an adult. Kids over 42" can ride pretty much any ride.
-Brink Kleenex, there is so much dust in the air if your not use to it it's bothersome. I was congested the following day and full of dust boogies. Gross!
