I have had the puppy plan since December of 2014 and they are horrible. The staff is pretty friendly but they are not well coordinated and since the practice is so busy on weekends they forget important things.
An example of this is before our dog was neutered he had ear infections on both sides which caused hematomas (pockets of blood due to ear shaking). The Vet prescribed Prednisone (a steroid) for these on a Saturday. That Sunday he got neutered and was given Caprofen (a pain pill). The vet who did the surgery did not read the chart and gave him a pain medication that interacted badly with the steroid. Thankfully I called the original vet who prescribed the steroid back and asked if I should stop the steroid while giving the pain medication and she had to call in a prescription for a new pain medication (Tramadol), advised me to stop the steroid and give the puppy Prilosec to avoid an ulcer. If the Vet who did the surgery simply followed the first Vet's orders of prescribing Tramadol for pain I would not have gone through the extra hassle.
They will also happily refer you to an animal hospital for emergencies even when you are supposedly paying for free consultations through the puppy plan which mind you is $65 a month.
They also regularly overcharge. We paid $40 for Vetropolycin (an eye medicine (with the 20% plan discount)) that I later found online for $10.
The "weekend convenience" is not worth the price. Find a nice local vet. Needless to say I will be calling Banfield Corporate to cancel the plan since it automatically renews.
