| - The Rio buffet sure isn't what it used to be. We've been there several times in the last year (we live in Las Vegas) and our last visit might have been our very last. We were squished into tables super close to each other, while there were many, many vacant tables close by. The guy who sat across from us (it was like we were eating together!) was the noisiest, ill-mannered eater I have ever seen-- slurping his soup, chomping on food with his mouth wide open, all while listening to his iPod that was so loud I could hear it. It was nauseating, and the waiters HAD to have noticed it. Never once did a waiter come by and acknowledge us, or we would have asked to be moved--it was that obnoxious. I wrote two letters to the Rio complaining about their seating policy (seating everyone in one area, I assume for the convenience of the waiters) but received no response. They don't care, apparently. Now, as far as the food: pretty mediocre. What was once a wonderful adventure in dining is now pretty generic. The quality of the food was so-so-- nothing to brag about, and really nothing to go for. The food was generally cold and dried out. We last went at the start of dinner time (so there was no excuse for that). It's not a cheap buffet-- I would expect a great deal more for this price. Average food, servers and management who don't seem to care, sitting crammed next to other diners: why bother when there are so many other buffets that rise above this one? It's a shame-- it used to be pretty spectacular.
