| - Today I called Carmen for some advice on a possible new car and I want to smack myself for not giving this shop and Carmen a review sooner! They certainly deserve it and 5 stars!
Having just moved to the state in 2003, I found this shop through one of its mechanics by chance on his time off. I had a hole in my muffler that had been fixed with a patch and the patch had fallen off. I was asking about local places and the mechanic spoke up. Being an easy fix, I just went to get rid of the noise. Upon meeting Carmen, the owner, I immediately felt comfortable. Being a woman... The mechanics services I had in the past always gave me hesitation or feeling like when I walked away I got duped. With Carmen it was not that way. At that time money was good and I just stated "just change the whole muffler system". His response was "why? A new patch is fine and all you need". That began my loyalty to this mechanic shop from the gal with the "rusty pink truck from the North". LOL A joke between us.
Since 2003, I have had to visit many times with various vehicles and my review could get very long to describe each example of how honest and full of integrity he has. Fair prices, honest good service and options. Always options.. So I will sum it up by saying.... in such a big city, when you walk in needing service, you feel like you have come across small town service. He always comes out personally to talk about the issue at hand. I have referred him many times and those who have used him, have also become loyal and satisfied customers of Carmen's Innovations. Not only does he put you at ease, he has a hilarious sense of common sense humor to add to the pot.
Which brings me to today, 12 years later, still the same perfect service. Upon considering a new car choice of vintage versus modern. I gave Carmen a call as I wanted to be sure he would work on an old and discontinued vehicle I was interested in. I knew my decision was based on him and that I literally did not want to have to use or find another mechanic. He was busy. He got the message and returned my call promptly. Of course he would work on the vehicle: easy Peasy. Then I mentioned some other things to inspect the car off site and he pointed out an obvious red flag. Although the place offered a lift to inspect and such, he preferred to use his own stuff so he could use his own equipment for all the tests he would want to perform, not just what the seller had "available". In my excitement of the find, I almost forgot my senses. I was pulled back by this call. But he went further and suggested if I could get the car from the seller ( as he did not want to allow an inspection off site), to get two opinions, not just his. Take the car to the specific brand dealer as well for an inspection to be sure as well. I hung up and opted not to pursue the vehicle.
I give great detail in this last example to exemplify his attitude and professionalism. He is not looking to gouge for one visit, he builds a long term relationship. And this is only ONE example. I can literally go on and on with other positive stories of my experiences at this shop. I do not get nervous when I have a break down like I did a decade before. Big or small, I know I am being treated beyond fairly. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
