| - My advice - Do not waste your time or money on this company. My experience was beyond bad. First, they gave me a car with bad electric problems. Specifically, the car's electrical systems died intermittently when I would stop the car, leaving me stranded at stop lights with the car completely dead in the water. (Made a number of other drivers very angry with me - but there wasn't anything I could do about it except keep trying to get the car started again.)
Also, the emergency lights would go on when I locked or unlocked the car and couldn't be turned off. When I called to complain, they said I needed to put more gas in the tank (it had half a tank full). When I protested that gas does not address electrical problems, they said I could drive it back and exchange it. (I was over an hour from their location, so that blew half a day of my vacation.)
The next car they gave me had serious brake problems - almost as dangerous as the electrical problems with the first one. In addition, the car kept flashing that it past due for servicing its tire monitoring system, its seat beat monitoring system, and its regular maintenance check up. But since I wasn't driving it much, I decided not to waste another half day exchanging it. So take note - THE TWO CARS THEY PROVIDED TO ME WERE NOT WELL MAINTAINED AND HAD SIGNIFICANT SAFETY RELATED ISSUES.
Third, when I rented the car, they said they were putting a hold on my credit card in the amount of $350. This was a lie. They actually charged my credit card - on the first day of a week long rental for $350. When I returned the car, a week later and with more gas than I started with, they gave me a "final" bill of $259. Since I thought they had put a hold on my card, I thought that was the charge.
So I was surprised when I returned home and found the week old $350 charge. When I called about it, they said it was a deposit and that I would be issued a refund check for the difference - that would be mailed to my home - within 2 to 3 days. 11 days later, I still didn't have the check. So I called again. They said they would follow up and get back to me within the hour. More than 3 hours later I called again. They said the check had been issued and should be in my mailbox within 5 days. They are in Phoenix and I live in San Francisco. Draw your own conclusions about that one. Bottom line - they have had an excess of my money for over 3 weeks and I still do not have the refund.
Then on their website, they said they can pick you up and deliver you to/from the Phoenix airport. What they don't say is that they will charge you $12 each way for the ride. Further, they charged the second $12 fee after I had signed the final paperwork for the final charge on the car. The way they made sure they got their money even after we had closed my bill was to take it out of the refund check they are supposedly sending me.
They say they don't charge the airport fee - and that is correct, but they make it up by a number of additional hidden fees, so ultimately, it was not cheaper to rent with them. And given the lack of safety factor of the two automobiles they provided to me, it is definitely not worth it to rent with these people.
In every way possible, poor customer service, hidden charges, lying about how charges were being made, over charging, holding on to excess funds for an extended period, poorly maintained vehicles, etc. - my personal experience of them was horrible. I will never use them again, and I cannot in good conscience recommend them to anyone else.
I'm just sorry I didn't read the previous Yelp reviews before I rented with them. Because then I could have avoided all this and had a much more pleasant vacation.
