| - It's time for me to share my story about my 13 month lease with the Edge. You can make your own judgement once moving in but my experience with them was absolutely awful. To be honest, I would rather live in a rancid broke down apartment in the ghetto then stay here.
My roommate and I both moved from different states, and finally found The Edge. At first we were skeptical but Sam (who no longer works at the property) had one of the most sweetest kindest most friendliest customer service anyone can ever have, reeled us in and we signed our lease. She was accompanied by I believe her name is Julie who after several months became the Regional Manager. Which ultimately became a nightmare!
(Disclaimer : Please keep up with all these names I'm about to say, because they change employees almost every month.)
Now my roommate and I are pretty much never ever home because of our jobs, so when we are home we like peace and quiet so we can rest and just basically live. Ever since the first month, I walked into a bug infestation which I'm happy to say they fixed right away. However, when it came to all of the rusty nails embedded into the carpet, they were probably more embarrassed about that. So my roommate and I pushed that to the side. Another complaint we had was our safety. One morning around 3AM, I was awoken to lights and distant chatter. I was in building 6 right in front of the dog park in the corner unit upstairs. So I quickly got up and investigated. Til this day no one can explain to me why there were police and SWAT members outside with guns and police tap? Ever since then, there were always police circling the grounds nightly, one parked even in the front where you get your mail. Arjay a new property manager came into the picture. As much as I gave him hell, he never backed down, and he honestly did everything he could to make the complex a better one. At the end of my lease I found out the company let him go. Which is a damn shame cause he's actually better than the Regional manager if you ask me. At least he had time to answer questions unlike her who would blatantly ignore you even if you were standing in front of her like nothing was wrong.
Another incident happened dead smack in the middle of summer. For about two weeks, my roommate and I were complaining that it was hotter than expected in our house. When we moved in, we had NEST installed. (Watch out for tech upgrades). It always sounded like the air was running but it was just simply not working. Our neighbors down stairs hated us at first cause they thought our air conditioner was a bother. The air conditioner sounded like an airplane had crashed into it. And for the whole month of June, we experienced no air conditioning because it took maintenance a MONTH to fix our air conditioner. Oh btw, let me not mention that they did not refund us for staying in hotels and didn't even compensate us on our energy bill that sky rocketed because our nest was running all day because it was broken. Btw, yes we told them to put a regular thermostat and take that stupid NEST out!
There's plenty of other stories I can continue with but I will be here for a year. The last encounter I had was literally the last month I was there. Again brand new staff made their presence. The assistant manager I'm not to fond of, but atleast she understood where I was coming from and she was always straight up with me which I respected. But the two leasing specialist are kind of worthless in my eyes. Both the guy and the African American girl are always a deer in headlights when it comes to questions. They never know anything nor do I ever see them do anything but hang out on their phones. The last month rent was due. Both my roommate and I paid at separate time but we gave them a check. I blatantly asked if my roommate paid and the assistant manager said yes. They took my check and put it in their envelopes and left. It was the weekend of my birthday so I was planning on going out of town. Thank God I postponed it a day because I came home and a there was a 5 day notice on my door. Again no answers when I go to the leasing office except they tell me that they lost both of my checks. Pure anger I tell you. They finally found my checks and I was excited to get out! Oh did I mention the new property manager basically was wonder why I was in the office the next day and in his own words "to be honest I'm new, I came from maintenance, the girl was written up, so I don't know what you want to hear?"
Like I tell everyone, my opinion is my opinion, and you can either take it and run with it or just follow your own perspective. My experience with The Edge was garbage. Asking for $1309 every month and not have a fan installed in the living room? Cmon now. But hey that was my mistake. I learned from it. If you do end up at The Edge, I wish you the best of luck.
