| - The two stars I awarded Midnight Diner are due to its kitschy, retro exterior. It's just how I would imagine a diner in the 50s or 60s to appear, aluminum siding and all. There is plenty of parking on the side and a cool neon sign.
When I walked through the door, I was immediately greeted by my disappointment at unmet expectations. The floor and windows were dirty, the white walls severe and abrasive, and the bathrooms horrendous. We almost left after seeing the bathrooms but instead alerted management and decided to stay.
I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit and my boyfriend ordered two eggs, bacon, well-done hashbrowns and white toast. I ordered half of a grapefruit but the waitress returned and said they were out of grapefruit. While the food was brought out expediently and made to our satisfaction, there was nothing special or memorable that could make up for the failed interior.
Midnight Diner is open 24 hours/day, and obviously caters to those late-night cravings. But trust me, your drunkenly made scrambled eggs or mac-n-cheese, enjoyed in the comfort of your home are the better option.
