  • I'm very unhappy with this company. I had a maintenance agreement with them. As part of that, they change 4 filters annually (they're 12 month, 4" pleated filters). They charged $100 per filter, on top of the annual maintenance fee. When I asked why the excessive charge, I was told, well they are really good filters, they last a year. I just looked at replacing them myself, looked up the exact same brand on the internet. I am able to purchase 3 of them at $42.50 ea and one at $23.06. I was grossly overcharged at $100 ea, explanation was, "we're not the internet". They were going to install a coil for a supposed leak they detected in my 7 year old Trane system. The coil is covered under warranty. The labor was going to be $1,500, but Daniel said he would credit that $333 for leak detection performed by a different company (a cost that would have been $989 if done by AC by J). When they came out with the coil, they said, oh, we have to remove the attic entrance trim and the closet shelf and we won't put it back, you'll have to. They worked on my system extensively and were well aware of my attic access and should have prepared me ahead of time for that type of prep, if it was needed. Nothing re prep was discussed with me beforehand. Even though the closet shelf was NOT removed when the whole unit was installed 7 years ago. And no, the $333 discount was already deducted in the $1,500 charge, so cost would be $1,500, not $1,200. My notes, per my verbal conversation with Daniel, indicated my price would be $1,200, which I still thought was excessive. I confirmed this price with Daniel verbally twice. However, they were not going to honor it. I sent them away with their coil. Very unethical and very overpriced 3 times at a minimum. Will never call them again.
