I wish I didn't have to choose any stars at all!
And I really wish we would have read other reviews before deciding to purchase a CalAtlantic Home. It has been the most horrible new home buying experience ever!
The two sales people were nice & friendly at the beginning, but that started to change somewhat over time, which I don't think is necessarily their fault. I believe those higher up had something to do with that. Although the location was only so-so in our minds, we fell in love with the floor plan & the fact that it was a model with lots of upgrades & amenities, so we went for it despite the so-so location & high price tag.
Shortly after the deposit was paid is when things started to make a turn for the worse. Items in the CONTRACT are not being fulfilled. Other items that were verbally agreed on are not being taken care of. Things that we were told would be left with the house (and there were many!) were removed. These things add up to thousands & thousands of dollars, therefore we requested to renegotiate the selling price & of course we were denied. So then we asked for a few other items & amenities to be added to make up for the missing ones as we were trying to be reasonable & make the deal happen. They are the most unreasonable people to deal with & obviously do not care about their reputation or making their home buyers happy. Oh, maybe that's because they were bought by Lennar & there will not be a CalAtlantic soon after 2018 begins!
We were supposed to close on the 21st & the house is still not ready! How do they think they can sell a BRAND NEW home with holes in the walls & scuffs all over & tacky strips from rugs all over the floors, not to mention all of the other problems I've already described? We are now currently looking at rental units & extended stay hotels as we have to be out of our current home by the 31st, but we know they don't care about that one bit! Happy New Year to us
