| - This will be long, but VERY informative if you're thinking about going to Dr. Allen. I made a HUGE mistake when I moved here & forgot to check reviews & he lucked out bc last name starts with A so he popped up early in search. At my 3rd appt I was pissed & then read all reviews. Please rely on these, I wish I checked first. Do not choose Dr. Allen unless you want to pay big bucks for history lessons on what cavemen lived on & how amazing potatoes are. I'm not even a patient for diabetes or weight! My 1st appt went great, so nice, spent 45 min with me, gave me my scripts (brought my bottles for proof) & sold me the VIP BS. I'd never heard of concierge, but I didn't have insurance & have to stay on my meds. At 3rd appt he takes away my sleep med, at 4th appt he cuts another med in half! I've been just fine on these same meds for 14 YEARS & never wanted any taken away or reduced & would have NEVER gone if that was his plan. For 9 months now I can't sleep! Days at a time, longest was 8 days. Oh Ambien isn't good & causes weight gain blah blah blah. Get a face lamp & practice "sleep therapy." Sleep therapy = if not asleep in 20 min, go to a different room & read a bit. Then try again & keep repeating. Is this a joke dude? I'll take weight gain over no sleep delirium any day! OH! I also had my ex join (after great 1st appt). Our son got sick & was put on antibiotics, my ex got it but Dr. A wouldn't give him antibiotics. Why? Makes no sense! Dr. Allen never cut HIS meds in 1/2 or took HIS sleep med away AND calls his RX's in!!! Why the drastic difference in treatment & he won't even give me the sleep med my ex takes bc it can also cause weight gain. IDC ABOUT WEIGHT, DR. A DOES!! Shouldn't that be MY choice? If you want to, you can pay $75 to see how much fat you have! Really dude, the mirror shows that for free! After seeing him for 10 months he randomly gives me a drug test, but I had to pay $20 for it. Soooo sorry, but it's hard for me to pee with my legs spread & aim into a cup. Drank 8 bottled waters, sat there for an hour, tried many times, but also sorry I can't pee on command. If I had a dick for easy aim it would be easier, but I don't. I asked them to take blood instead, he said no. I'm told I'll have to do it next appt. I tell her that cup is too big & I CAN'T pee like that. Then she tells me they have (I call it a hat), a bowl that fits on toilet so a GIRL can pee in it normal without legs spread or getting pee on her hand attempting to aim pee stream. Then pour it into the cup! Hope they learned to offer that for other women like me with shy bladders ;)
Now let me tell you WHAT to expect for $2K as a "VIP". I went once a month & spent about 2 min with him. Maybe 3. If you ask a question you'll get longer with a history lesson. Receptionist does weight & BP, she's very nice. Dr. Allen comes in with a loose piece of paper & will scribble a few things. Hi there, still not sleeping? You using the face lamp & getting outside 30 min a day? How are your BM's? Good with your meds? Alright, I'll get your scripts. I wasn't aware my term is up and, unfortunately, I need refills now before I can find another Dr. I can either pay $2K for another year or $275 per appointment. They won't bill insurance for concierge. I have insurance now so I'll do it by appt. Nope they still won't bill insurance. WHY? It's a doctor appt, isn't that the whole point of insurance?? He ONLY wants your cash, not the lower flat rate insurance agrees to pay him per appt! I said no so he now knows it's my last appt. What happens when I get there? BAM another drug test even though I just did one! Great, I peed right before my appt. Well what do you know now they have a saliva one!! But that one is $50. He seriously makes me sick. It's her last appt, fine let's make her pay $275 for 5 pieces of paper (meds) AND another $50 to see if she's on drugs even though I've been prescribing her the SAME meds for a year, the same meds she has taken for 14 years AND her test was JUST FINE 2 months ago. Noooo, that's not ripping me off is it?! $275 + $50 for 2 minutes of his time, my saliva & 5 pieces of paper.
He will milk every possible cent out of someone even knowing they're broke!!! He's too cool, wearing a Fedora with no care in the world. Why would he? He's loaded from robbing people & insurance companies!
I paid $2,275 for 13 months just to get prescriptions I need, not 1 benefit from him. I'm actually WORSE bc I'm leaving with sleep deprivation & another med cut in half. He's the worst Dr. I've ever been to, even worse than the 7 month pregnant bitchy OB that delivered my 1st kid who clearly did not want to be there!! She earned her $ at least!! SAVE YOUR MONEY, TIME & SANITY & KEEP SWIPING.
Sorry for TMI, but this is a real review to attempt to prevent anyone from making my mistake, always read reviews first! I see a new Yelp for his "concierge" service has been added. No reviews yet, so I will copy/paste my review to both :)
