Newly opened and situated in the district area of MGM lies Pub 1842 courtesy of Michael Mina. With a large rectangle bar right smack dab in the middle along with booth seating on each side as well as an open kitchen in the back, 1842 gives you that local bar vibe with a touch of sophistication.
Greeted as we sat down at the bar, the bartender was most hospitable. I had ask him to make me a drink whiskey based and he delivered with an old fashion made with jim beam that was aged for four months in a miniature oak barrel that was sitting at the bar. Delicious. They also have a decent selection of beers, wine and cocktails.
Food-wise, i went for the peanut butter crunch burger (i also asked them to put a fried egg on which they accommodated me on that request). It's one of those food where you know it's sooo bad for you but taste sooo good. My buddy opt'd for the bacon cheeseburger which was also a home run. The fries reminded me of fresh out the fryer Mcdonald's fries.
Solid food, good drinks and nice staff? A top 5 gastropub on my list.
