| - I was referred to Dr Brar from a good friend of mine. Going to my prenatal visits were awesome! The staff members at both locations were super friendly and patient.
This has been bugging me since I've had my daughter.
I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes after taking the glucose test which was two months before my due date. About a couple of weeks after I was diagnosed, I had to see my Doctor once every week. Each time I saw her she would ask me if I wanted to get induced and I kept telling her no because i wanted to have it naturally. My expected due date was supposed to be on 03/12/14, but on my last Doctor's visit, which was on 03/05. My Doctor had asked me again if I would like to get induced and I told her no. However, she asked me if my baby is still actively moving and I said yes, but not as much as she did a few weeks ago. She then tells me that "she's going to induce me and that I would need to head to the hospital right after this appt".
She told me that she induces her patients that are 39 weeks pregnant with gestational diabetes because there's a possibility that the baby can DIE. I was so shocked when I heard this and asked if I can go home to get my stuff at least. So after the appt I stalled because I wasn't ready to have my baby, wanted to have her naturally and was so shocked that she said there was a possibility that my baby could die....After stalling for a good 4 hours I finally went to the hospital because they kept calling me, telling me that the Doctor was waiting for me.
Once I was admitted the Doctor came in and checked my cervix and said I'm 7 cm dilated and instantly broke my water. The nurse came in and gave me pitocin and the Doctor checked up on me 30 mins after it was given to me. She asked me if I was feeling anything and I told her no and that I felt fine and didn't feel any pain. She then tells the nurse to increase the pitocin.
After the Doctor left, I was chit chatting with my nurse and asked why the Doctor was in such a hurry and she told me that that's just how she is. I then told her what the Doctor had told me about there being a possibility that my baby could die so I was pretty much forced to get induced. After the nurse increased my pitocin, it hit me all at once and I was feeling my contractions every min and tried to tough it out for as long as I could, but ended up getting the epidural after 40 mins or so.
The Doctor came in again and checked my cervix again and told me I was 8 cm dilated and that she wanted me to begin pushing. I listened to her and started to push, but while I was pushing my daughter's blood pressure started to drop. So the nurse put an oxygen mask on me and the Doctor ended up cutting me and suctioning the baby out.
All of the chaos that I went through didn't matter when I saw my daughter. However, after telling people my story, everyone told me I should've complained or told the Doctor to leave if she was in such a hurry. After thinking about it for over a year, I thought I could just let it go, but for some reason can't. All I know is that the next time I'm pregnant I'm going to go to a different OB Doctor who won't keep asking me to get induced, who won't be in a rush when I'm in labor or make me push when I'm not even 10 cm dilated -_-.....
