  • I have mixed feelings about this place. I put together a meeting for work and decided on this hotel for lack of something closer to work. I should mention that my meeting was last week while Cleveland was hosting the Red Sox in the playoffs. The normal places I would go to were already booked, and this place gave us an excellent group rate. This is Cleveland, but our rate was good even for Cleveland. Anway, I booked a block of rooms several weeks in advance and made sure everyone had non-smoking rooms. Everyone showed up at random times of the day. I checked in around 9pm that night and went up to my room which was really big. I had a King size bed, a small living room (with a couch an armchair and a coffee table.), in addition to the workspace with a desk and chair, in addition to more space that held a tiny fridge and a microwave. The room had at least 5 windows, a separate vanity area and finally the bathroom (which was kinda small by comparison). The t.v. in the living area faced the couches, not the bed, which I was rather annoyed at, and the t.v. itself was rather small. The bed was large and soft and comfortable. The room didn't smell funny (one of my pet peeves when it comes to hotels) and the linens and towels were fresh and clean. When I got back to my room after a day of meetings I found a fresh fruit plate, chilled bottle water and soda in my room, complimentary! All in all, my room was 5 stars! Here comes the bad part. Everyone who checked in after me got smoking rooms, when we specifically reserved non-smoking rooms. One person (a VP) didn't even get a room! They had to send her to another hotel!!! She had a confirmation number and everything! Obviously they overbooked. They gave me a suite because that's probably all they had left when I checked in. I (the organizer of the event) was SO embarrassed. Some people got crammed into tiny rooms, others complained that the rooms faded and older and just "not what they're used to," whatever that means. The next day everyone who got a smoking room tried to get moved, but they had no capacity. I should mention, in the hotels favor, they did comp the two nights stay for everyone with a smoking room. I must admit that this is VERY respectable of them, and actually exceeded my expectations. Some miscellaneous notes, I ordered some seafood pasta which was not good. But another night I had a special room service request which they got perfect! Also, they have a shuttle that took me to work for free.
