| - I had just finished dinner at Lucille's and said no to desert because I was full but as we ran across the street to the car, I saw Chocola and decided to pop in, I rarely refuse cupcakes.
The place is well lit, sunny and cute and the display cases were crowded with cupcakes, a little too crowded to enjoy them from an asthetic perspective but not a huge deal.
Like many places, they have a rotating menu of cupcake choices for the day.
I ordered a cheesecake cupcake, an apple crumble and a rolo one to go.
When we got home, I decided on the cheesecake one, lots of cream cheese frosting mounded on top with a little wedge of cheesecake on top.
I peeled off the cupcake wrapper and tried the cake first, it was a little heavy and bland, the icing was sweet and tasty but a little too heavy handed. The little wedge of cheesecake was delicious.
The 2 others were not meant for me but my 2 dinner companions eren't in the mood for anything that sweet and were still stuffed from our dinner. Like the piggy I sometimes am:) I decided to try the rolo, the cake was once again heavy and lacking in the taste department, there was a chunk of rock hard rolo in the centre, i threw it out. The icing was vanilla with a little caramel on top and a piece of rolo.
I didn't have the apple crumble one but the persn who devoured it liked it well enough.
Its a shame because I like the fact Chocola is close to home but it didn't overwhelm me in terms of taste or decor.
