| - Positives: It's a very nice hotel, terrific staff, reasonably big room with a small fridge, not far from the T so it's very easy to get a quick ride to PNC Park or Heinz Field, it's next to the hockey arena, it's on the edge of downtown so it's an easy walk or Uber ride to anywhere, including Fort Pitt. The elevator from the garage goes straight up to the floors, you don't have to walk around the lobby or even go by the front desk to get in and out, besides check-in. Good bar/restaurant on the main floor.
Negative: Parking is expensive. The hotel is part of a larger complex that shares a set of large underground garages connected by stairwells. There's only one garage that goes directly to the Marriott. You have to pay extra for in and out privileges and even more for valet. And the entrance from the garage to the front desk requires you to walk a bit to an elevator bank, go up a flight and walk around the corner. Some of the price is understandable, given it's an upscale hotel. But for someone who wants something low maintenance, easy in, easy out, and has a lack of desire to tip a valet every single time someone touches my vehicle, it wasn't terrific, particularly since the part of the garage that leads directly to the hotel filled up quickly and was closed all weekend. Best advice - enter the green entrance off Washington Place, that's the 6th floor, bear to the right and find a good spot as close to the Marriott entrance as you can, either get some help or make several small trips to get your stuff upstairs and try to find alternative transportation arrangements for your time there.
