A refreshing upgrade from the owners of Salty Senorita's. Each visit here has been an enjoyable one for a couple reasons:
* Great drink selection. There's a wide array of beers and cocktail, with a couple creative options thrown into the mix. One of my favorites is the quick-like-ninja-ale. It's a pilsner and cold sake mix. Kind of like a fancier sake bomb that you sip on. Not a beer or spirits fan? They've got an assortment of fine wines for most every palate.
* Patio seating. It's a great place to hang out on a nice evening or during a day drinking excursion. I like it because it's close enough to old town, but sort of off-strip. That cuts down on high foot traffic, which means less competition for tables. May not be great for their bottom line though...
I haven't tried much of their food, so I won't speak on that too much. However, I did find their liberty fondue (three cheese with soft pretzels) to be pretty good. On my birthday, I was given a free shot, so that was a plus. Overall, Union Barrelhouse is worth giving a chance if you're in the mood for a cold drink and picking off a tasty looking food menu.
