| - I've been shopping here for decades. If I've wanted pretty much any level of outdoor gear or clothing, it's been there. And I know retail help can vary in talent level, but, I'm done. The pretense here is enough to make head across town to REI or Orvis.
The vibe here now isn't that of the local outdoor store, it's of a collection of recently post-collegiate outdoor enthusiasts enjoying the shop discount, rocking the Patagucci fleece, sipping a smoothie from Caribou, kind of bothered when you ask a question, if they can even be bothered. I don't think that I fit the target demographic anymore, and that's okay. I can buy this stuff elsewhere.
Good salespeople engage you, bad salespeople avoid eye contact, or even actively walk away from customers (especially if the task at hand is socializing with fellow employees: "smoothie time!")
Pro: This place has everything, even a small fly shop inside (I *was* in the market for a new fly rod).
Con: If you don't want me to buy any of your really cool stuff, message received.
