| - So, I'm in the market for a new ride. I've had my eye on a particular Harley and I recently moved to Vegas.
First impressions of the store, it's really big, clean and fairly well curated. Not nearly the selection of bikes I was expecting for such a huge store, but the line up was well represented.
Second impression, this place is for tourists looking to buy a shirt and do a selfie with a bike. It was fairly busy with that clientele. Tourists gathering next to bikes, Dad telling young billy of his glory days, Mom looking bored in her puff paint cat shirt. You get the idea.
I can't really blame them, they're on the strip and they probably make a huge amount from the stockpile of Harley branded goods.
20 min on the sales floor and I got no attention, which I can understand considering most people in there are looky-loos who would probably just be a waste of time. Finally, someone walking by very fast asked if I had questions and when I said yes, he seemed a bit surprised (I don't think he was expecting to break his stride)
I asked about the model I've been looking at and if there was any budge in the price, or incentives (soft goods, upgrades) if I paid in cash. I was told no, which I was a bit surprised, and offered that I might get a better deal on a different bike. Who wants to drop that kind of money and settle though?
All in all, the fella was nice, but I didn't feel at home. Local guy wanting to buy cash on the barrel might be a better fit elsewhere. In the end, I didn't feel like this place was for me. Hell, maybe Harley isn't for me after all.
