| - Went for afternoon tea in the (beautiful) purple room with my mother and sister.
Waiter and staff were all wonderfully polite
The place was beautiful
The tea selection is vast and truly delicious (I had Twilight, yum, my mother had Once Upon a Tea, yum, and my sister peppermint, classic)
My mother and sister said everything they ate was fabulous, they loved it all (especially the scones)
Me, however, being gluten and lactose intolerant, I had a slightly different opinion
I will say, as a big thumbs up to the Windsor Arms, they do offer a menu that is gluten/dairy free and vegan friendly (which is great) HOWEVER, the menu for this is seriously lacking (in my opinion)
The gluten free scones were absolutely DELICIOUS (loved them) , as were the two dessert balls (one almond and one coconut, both awesome)
However, in place of sandwiches and food I was given 6 chickpea-patties. Two with guacamole, two with humus and two with a white bean paste. Although good (basic tastin but fine) I did find it very underwhelming for the price im paying. I would have loved two of those chickpea parties (the white bean were great) and then OTHER options aswell. I think the Windsor Arms can definitely add to their alternate menu some more vegetables and creative snacks (6 of the same thing, just seems like it was all just an afterthought)
So aside from the amazing scones, the alternate menu left lots to be desired and I suggest they fix it up (I feel like emailing them ideas!! Ahah)
But -- the rest of my party enjoyed it and everything was lovely aside from that.
