My great grandmother was buried her in 1957 and my grandfather, a WWI veteran in 1966. It WAS a beautiful cemetery with green grass, large trees etc. My grandmother selected the site because of that. I had not visited in some years and paid a visit several days ago. I was disgusted. Many of the grave stones were entirely covered with grass and you had trouble even finding them. Many areas had dead grass and trees and my grandfathers grave, which had been selected because of the large tree next to it was in no better shape. The tree and many others were totally dead. Other trees had been cut down mid trunk and the place looks neglected. I could not even find the urns that had always been with the head stones and were paid for I might ad. When I expressed my concern to staff I was informed that they had had a bad ground crew and the new one was not much better. That explanation will not cut it. This neglect had obviously been going on for a while and was not just the result of a bad landscaping crew. They also indicated that water was not running in some areas. This appears to be the result of a large corporation ( Dignity ) who DOES not want to spend the money to maintain the grounds. My grandfather and many other veterans laid to rest at Greenwood deserve far better and I want an explanation as to why this property has been allowed to deteriorate to this point. Something is very wrong. Visit before you select this place. I guess they count on family members not visiting the graves and the dead can't complain. They should be ASHAMED. I know what this cemetery used to look like.
