| - After being trapped at Wal-Mart in Savoy during Spring Break (the buses stopped running in the evening), I needed a cab in order to get home so I called Yellow Taxi. The dispatcher seemed very fast and efficient and let me know not to worry, a cab would be there in 10 minutes. After 20 minutes, I called for follow up. The guy was incredibly rude, and told me to be patient, that I had to allow time for the cab to get there. As if it were all my fault that I had to make this phone call. I informed him that the only reason I was calling was because he told me that it was going to be 10 minutes, and it had been 20! He said "Well I have a lot of things going on!" and rushed me off the phone. WHAT?? If I ever told my clients that the information I gave them was all wrong, and later blamed it on being "overwhelmed" with business, and made them feel like it was their fault (instead of accepting responsibility), I would be fired!! Also, if I couldn't keep things honest and under control in service industry, I would consider a different profession!
I waited ten minutes more before calling Orange Cab. That dispatcher did tell me he would be there shortly and I told him that's what Yellow Cab told me so wasn't really sure what that meant anymore! "Yea I worked for them for a few years, they're always telling people that and they're always late, always telling people they're on they're way, and they never are which is why I came to work for Orange Cab." Orange Cab was there in literally 3 minutes and when I called the cancel Yellow Cab, the guy again told me that the car was on the way. I told him I really couldn't believe what he was saying since I had been led on all night (and hanging around Wal-Mart for almost an hour is ridiculously annoying!), so he put me on the phone with the dispatcher who said "I'm a minute away." I still canceled. Not worth it.
I was home in minutes with Orange Cab and the driver was very nice. He also let me know that Yellow cab is the same as Yellow Checker which is the same as... I will not be calling anyone with a "Yellow" in it again!
