| - A complex calculation goes in to my three star rating of Front Row, and while I don't have enough space here to fully explain the algorithms, allow me to try to summarize:
- It's a Friday's, with all attendant Friday's food and drink-- on its own a one star rating.
- It's got a bar that's stocked with sort of standard booze and pours pretty weak drinks, but does have numerous TV's, so you can catch a number of different games-- on its own a two and a half star rating.
-It's located in a major league baseball stadium-- on its own a five star rating.
-The baseball stadium in question, Chase Field (forever the BOB in my mind) is a representative of all the crappy new mall-like baseball parks that have insisted on sprouting up over the last 15+ years-- on its own a two star rating
- Phoenix, of all places, has a pretty good weather-related excuse for a mall-like structure in which to house its baseball-- uping the rating in the previous point to three stars.
- Front Row is open year round, so even if you're never in Phoenix during the regular season you still have an opportunity to at least get a sense of the BOB-- once again a five star rating.
All in all, props to Front Row for allowing us spring visitors a unique opportunity to see the field at the Ides of March. If only they could do something about the watered-down drinks, overly salted food, and unappealing menu items, this would be an excellent stop for those inclined to work baseball in to their lives whenever possible. As is, its worth the trip, just for the haunting experience of standing on the balcony in the middle of the night, watching the groundscrew work under kleig lights to prepare the turf for opening day.
