  • Traveling with my dog for the very first time so i was a little nervous at first. Every hotel on the strip wants to charge like $75 additional for a pet fee, so its great that La Quinta is pet friendly. First off, some of the negatives: The place is a little outdated. It could definetly use a little touch up. The carpet in the hallway is definetly a little funky. They have a weekly fire alarm test, and the alarm is sooo damn loud, scared the S out of me and my dog. Would have been nice to be told this. The positives: Check-in was easy and the lady up front, Cathy, was extremely friendly and courteous. My dog room was really clean, wouldn't have known it was a dog room. There's a heavy fragrant smell at first, maybe to cover up any dog smells. While it isnt unpleasant it might be a little sensitive for someone with allergies. However the smell goes away after a day. They put you in their dog wing of the hotel, which is convienantly located right near the exit to the courtyard to take your pooch out. The AC is loud, but in the Vegas heat it blasts frigid cold air which was great. HD tv with free showtime was nice. Wifi worked just fine for me. Yes next to the hotel, to the east, there is a ghetto apartment, but just park in the northern end next to the pool. They have a shuttle, which i didnt use cuz i had a car but its only 5 minutes depending on traffic to the strip. Of course the breakfast is not great, but it's included, and it'll hold you down until lunch. Plus you didn't come to Vegas to eat a free continental breakfast anyway. For the dog owners across the street are office buildings with plenty of grass to take your pooch with some shaded areas to walk in the hot Vegas summers. Also, to beat the heat, take the pooch up to Mt. Charelston for a nice hike. Only about 45 to 60 minutes away but sometimes 30 degrees cooler than in the valley. So i would definetly stay here again for the main reason that its a great place to stay if traveling with your dog.
