| - Overpriced, overhyped, over-everything.
Don't get me wrong, this was a good meal. But it wasn't great, and that is what the prices at Cut dictate. I had just eaten at Carnevino a week or so prior, and I wouldn't put Cut in the same league, or even approaching it.
We ordered similar items here that we got at Carnevino, beet salad, cocktail and wine, American wagyu ribeye and the fillet. These items all seemed to be a large step below in quality and flavor in comparison. In fact, we had bigger portions and more food and drink at Carnevino than Cut, yet the price and total bill came out to be much higher at Cut.
Additionally, unlike Carnevino, the atmosphere at Cut was massively trendy and unwelcoming. So trendy, that when we asked for a wine list, we were presented with a stupid iPad to search for something suitable with our meal. At that point, I was ready to deduct a star from my review just based on the pretentiousness of this. But the food and price of everything did a suitable job in reducing my rating.
What I find weird is that I have had Snake Rivers farms meat on many occasions and regularly bought it at my local supermarket in the Seattle area. It is good stuff, and it was always worth paying a little extra for the quality. It wasn't outrageously expensive compared to other store meats. But Cut prices their Snake River Farms American wagyu meat so high that it is offensive to me. At those prices I should be getting genuine, pure Japanese Kobe beef.
Based on the overall dining experience, there are so many other better steakhouses to go other than Cut. Carnevino of course being the best. Others include Vic and Anthony's, which actually had a BETTER fillet that was not American wagyu at a third of the price, Mon Ami Gabi, Todd's Unique, Stripsteak, and many many others. At Cut you are paying for the Wolfgang Punk brand, and not an amazing meal.
Also take note, Cut no longer offers a local discount when I asked, which made me hate paying for this meal even more.
