  • I absolutely love music. All types. Everything from Mozart to Jay-Z I listen to and appreciate...I love music and I am so happy I got to visit this amazing museum. Since the Museum opened in 1995 I had wanted to visit. I had heard mixed reviews, and I had high expectations, but I was not let down! The building is absolutely beautiful. Cost of admission is on the higher side ($23), but that's not uncommon for major museums and it's worth your money. They have artifacts and memorabilia ranging from Hank Williams Suits to the jacket Michael Jackson wore to the Grammy's to parts of the plane Otis Redding was riding in when he died over a lake in Madison, Wisconsin. Everyone from Muddy Waters to Fallout Boy is celebrated in this amazing museum. Like other museums, they have rotating exhibits. When I came, they had a great exhibit about Paul Simon. I will admit, one of my favorite things in the museum was the actual smoking jacket Paul wore when he was on Saturday Night Live (the episode where Justin Timberlake was inducted into the "5 timers club"... It incorporated two of my favorite things.. music and SNL! Awesome! They also had a fantastic exhibit about photographer Herb Ritts and all the pictures he took of musicians for magazine and album covers. It was fantastic! There were several areas that had music you could listen to as well as a couple small theaters that showed various videos. I really enjoyed the theater that showed the clips of every musician inducted to the hall of fame. It was a lot of fun and sitting was a nice little break from all the walking! While I wouldnt say you couldn't spend an entire day here, If you visit, I would recommend you allow yourself a few hours. They have a great gift shop where you could buy anything you wanted in regards to music or the rock and roll hall of fame. Everything from an actual guitar to posters, CDs, DVD's, t-shirts, hats, golf balls, coffee mugs, jewelry, magnets, etc, etc, etc. It was a fun way to end the visit (and I bought some awesome wine glasses as a memento from my trip). If you like any type of music from any type of genre, you will really enjoy this museum.
