| - Decided to get off the subway and just walk from north york centre to finch and came across this cheesecake store. Now, initially, I thought it was actually a different store cause on Instagram someone was sharing stories of a new store that had something to do with cheese until I remembered it hadn't opened yet, but walking in was a pretty good choice.
All of the other buildings around were dark and closed up, but this place was really bright and pretty much was asking to be noticed. The interior is clean with minimalist decor.
The person behind the counter greets you on your way in and on your way out. She offered some samples of their Baked Cheese Tart and their Japanese Cheesecake, and upon tasting it, I was sold on the cheese tart. Well, I also didn't want to look cheap just taking samples and not buying anything, but that's another story.
They've got a fridge carrying Fiji water and some japanese-branded drinks. Washroom in the basement. There are some japanese snacks displayed on a shelf from other brands.
I ended up buying their cheese tart. It's pretty big, good for three or four people.
The crust was nice and flaky, and the inside was filled with thick cream cheese. Or at least, I can only imagine that is how it's supposed to be, given that it must've been sitting around for some time.
My only issue with this place is it just has a bunch of cakes/tarts sitting on a counter in the back. Well, it was 7:30 PM, and the place was empty, so my assumption is the turn-over isn't so quick that they've always got fresh ones ready as there were 4 or 5 cheesecakes and tarts sitting out in room temperature . The ones on display don't look as good either.
Might have to find a better time to go when they've just made some fresh ones, or have them pre-ordered or something. Would probably be at least 4-star then. Next time will try asking for a fresh one somewhere closer to the middle of the day.
Given that someone might also wander by after dinner hours, I can't say they should expect the best experience.
