  • I frequent the other Jo-Anns (Rainbow) but every once and a while I'll go to this one if I'm on that side of town. For one, as large as it is, it doesn't seem to have that much selection. For instance snaps, nylon, Velcro, etc they have a few different sizes and types but that's it. Same with the fabric. There is so much "print" fabric, but very little variety in types. For instance I wanted a type of cotton gauze or thin cotton to make cedar sachets. That was my first mistake. :( I came in with a cedar sachet for an example (a little cotton bag with cedar chips in it). All I wanted was the same material so I can make more. There is literally NO STAFF on the floor at this store. And you aren't allowed to ask a question at the cutting counter unless you "took a number" which most of the time is 10 deep. So I walk through isles of fabric (mostly polyester, or some type of linen or a million different prints or colorful plastic netting) and I can't find it. I of course took a number just to be safe. I was 118 and they were on 112. Not long right? Wrong it averaged about 10 minutes per number. Do the math, that's an hour. And that is just to ask a question, not even to get anything cut. I decided to go to customer service, thinking they may call someone over to help FIND a fabric. I get to customer service and the young man manning the desk leaves to go stock impulse buy end caps. Hello! Customer here! Stock later! Anyhow he eventually comes back and I explain I just need help finding a fabric. He tells me he could "try" to get someone to help but they probably will never come so my best chance is to go to the cutting counter. Needless to say he didn't even try. Still waiting for my number to be called JUST to ask a question I start asking other customers of they can help me. They gave me some suggestions but still no go. I do eventually find a person on the floor. She says try over there (already did). Finally they call my number. The man at the cutting counter looks at the little bag I brought in and he tries to explain its some type of industrial thin cotton that's made in other countries... ???? And that they don't have it and has no idea where it can be purchased. Seriously, its just a piece of cotton fabric that's almost see through. I thought fabric people would know... Any how in general the cutting counter is slow. Not always the employees fault because a little old lady has like a 100 fabrics with her to be cut. Maybe they need a "2 fabrics or less line" so the whole damn place isn't held up for a lady with a 100 things to be cut. But the employees at the cutting counter don't move fast either. Lets not even talk about the Viking sewing center in the middle. Those ladies make it known that they have nothing to do with Jo-Anns. And if you tell them you have any other machine besides a Viking they look down on you. They provide zero help when it comes to sewing machine tips. Honestly Jo-Anns should throw them out and just have their own sewing machine center. The Viking people are useless. Long story short if you need tacky print fabric, some thread, scissors or school glue this is your place. Get a candy bar while you are at it, they have a better selection then most convenience stores. I did give it 2 stars because they also have a cool online coupon which you can pull up on your phone to get a good % off. But all in all, for anything more than what I listed, you are better off going somewhere else.
