  • If you are a sushi lover, this place will make you happy especially because it caters to both the purists as well as to the wannabes. And I don't mean to use the term wannabe in a derogatory manner. I just wanted to convey that if you like your fish fried they will be able to satisfy your needs. And this is not just tempura. They have fried versions of many non-fried originals. The menu is quite elaborate and they always feature numerous specials. This evening after being "stood up" for dinner by my son, Omar, who is a mere 6 hours behind schedule driving from LA to Scottsdale, I decided I was going to do sashimi. So I headed straight for Hiro, a place I have always been pleased with. This evening was no different. I ordered a combination of mackerel, tuna and clam. Mon Dieu! It was heaven. What really accentuated the experience was that, if available, I always ask for freshly grated wasabi. Today I had the pickled wasabi and it was superb. So I am a happy camper although I would have much preferred to have Omar eating alongside me.
