  • Casa sunba is a unique location and concept. It takes a lot of guts to have a outdoor restaurant serving lunch in Tempe in the summer. There is also a indoor area with a concert venue however during my lunch visit it wasn't open so that will be another review. First of all the beer selection is pretty decent with several varieties on tap. There is also a full bar. Even though this is a outdoor only place, the abundance of misters and fans keep it pleasant out. The food is also where the uniqueness of this place really shines. The majority of the choices are burritos but definitely not the normal kind. Mac and cheese, fried chicken dinner and Chinese takeout are some of the options. I had the BBQ chicken dinner burrito as it was the special of the day and although it was good it did suffer slightly by the mac and cheese and cole slaw in the burrito taking a lot more real estate then the chicken and really overpowering it. My son was joining me for this trip and he had the vegan steak burrito and it was excellent. I don't know what they are using for their steak substitute but it is amazing, it tastes and feels exactly like real meat and has a delicious flavor. The service while adequate was somewhat lacking but I think this was mostly because the bar was only staffed by one bartender and she seemed to be having a hard time keeping up with a busy lunch hour. All in all a decent place with a unique concept that I will be trying again.
