  • Usually I'm the one talking down the places everyone else talks up. This time, the reverse. Many reviews bash this place, but our experience is better. First of all this was my first time in this restaurant in 24 yrs, just like the reviewer below. As soon as I walked in the door and saw all the ties, I remembered last time I ate there pretty clearly. I was staying with friends then, way west and south in Glendale. I also remember the drive out felt like we were half way back to IL. If you can get past the passe "old west" show and the plethora of tourist-trapping trinkets, you may have a decent meal and a fun time. The salad is lame, but everything else seems good. My porterhouse was charred and tender, very tasty, but did have some stringy parts on the NY side. That said, taking into what others report, no two steaks are the same and if I go to a restaurant and get a bad one, I will send it back. We went mid-week, off-season. I must admit I wouldn't wait in line. As for service, our waitress was good and very friendly. Then again, it was early evening and slow. The hostess, a young girl in boots and western hat, wasn't very friendly. She was a little snide I thought. We asked to see the menu before we were seated (not uncommmon for us) and she didn't like that. Hmmm. Tip for visitors: if you want to work up an appetite, walk up Pinnacle Peak before eating.
