| - Milk Bar (apparently also known as milk closet) is perhaps a bit over-priced and over-hyped, but what they do have to offer is delicious.
I showed up a little after Momofuku and Milk Bar opened (around 12:30) and grabbed 6 cookies for $11 (saving $1 (!!!) off the regular $2 per cookie price tag): two blueberry & cream cookies, two compost cookies and two cornflake chocolate chip marshmallow cookies. I also picked up a slice of the crack pie.
The cookies were all really good, with my favourite being the compost cookie. It had a great mix of flavours, with ingredients including graham crumbs, potato chips and coffee grounds. Not sure I noticed the potato chips, but the coffee grounds did show themselves here and there.
I found the cornflake-marshmallow cookie to be somewhat of a crunchier and harder cookie, which wasn't exactly what I had in mind. It softened up with a dunk in some coffee and was enjoyable nonetheless.
Similar to others, I found the crack pie to be very sweet, but delicious. It was a pecan pie/butter tart with a sprinkle of... err.. crack? I kept going back for bite after bite. I found the portion to be somewhat small for $7, however, my girlfriend and I barely finished the slice for our dessert. Perhaps the crack pie is just a bit too sweet.
Overall, Milk Bar was a novel experience, but doesn't have much to keep me coming back on a weekly basis. With Milk Bar shipping the baked goods in from Brooklyn, I somewhat question my carbon footprint for a half-dozen cookies and a slice of pie - but they were pretty good cookies and pie.
