| - I lived here for about 2 years with my daughter and cat, and I have to say it was a positive experience. They gave me a good deal on the move in. I loved the layout of the apartment even though it was a little small, but good enough for us at the time. All my neighbors and the staff were very nice and I liked the community feel. The grounds and trees were beautiful, it felt like an oasis in the city, and being able to walk to places was great. I never felt unsafe there because the layout makes the apartments front doors and windows facing to the road or courtyard, so anyone can see who's lingering around. Also, VERY cat friendly. My cat went outside a lot and I felt ok because it's far enough from any main roads that would be a danger to him, and he loved that too!
A few things I didn't like, when we went through walkthrough on move in, we pointed out things that needed to be fixed together and was told things would be provided to me like longer pull chords, etc, but never received any of those. I didn't ask, so.. whatever on that. The carpet was in HORRIBLE condition, and should have been replaced or the apartment should have been renovated before i moved in (they were changing the other apartments at the time). All the cabinets and walls are coated with many layers of paint. The apartments are old, i get it, but god knows how much all those paint fumes affect someone, not to mention the popcorn ceilings and the extremely old appliances. I didn't even use the dishwasher after a while. Also, my biggest problem and my main reason for wanting to move was the hot water. In my unit, when I first moved in, it seemed to heat up fine. I was actually impressed that it heated up so well, and then about 6 months in, the hot water just stopped getting hot. It would be barely over 100 degrees after filling a whole tub and letting it run for a while. I addressed this issue with them several times and no one could seem to figure out what the problem was. They said i was the only one, but after talking to my neighbors they said they had the same problem. I think they might have tried something, because it did get a little hotter sometimes. But i took more than one cold shower in the morning because it just wouldnt get hot.
Other than that, I think this is a good place to live. The location is perfect. I wish they would take some time to do some extra renovations. New drywall, (mine was not even touching the carpet it had been worked over so many times) Newer appliances, get rid of popcorn ceilings, add a little more counter space in the kitchen area, and they could easily charge more for these apartments.
Last thing is, i was dreading move out because I didnt have time to do all the details in cleaning. Turns out I will be receiving a refund on my deposit! So i'm extremely happy about that. So i would recommend, but maybe not for people who are used to fancier duds.
