I started working across the street from Savoury Grounds a couple weeks ago, and I was excited to have a regular coffee house so close to work for my afternoon caffeine fix. The prices are reasonable and I was happy they accepted credit cards. I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, I've decided to stop going here after two weeks because the price I pay for my coffee seems to depend on who's working the till. Usually the price on their menu is respected, but I noticed sometimes an extra cent is added when my payment is processed. At first I thought it was an accident, but it was added by the same person each time. Then after several visits and without notice, another 0.20 was added to the price. When I inquired, I was told it was a service fee for using my card - but there is no sign displayed indicating an extra fee for using credit. Thankfully I found another coffee shop around the corner which charges a flat rate for a cup of joe regardless of how I pay, and regardless of who takes my payment (Cafe Odin, and in my opinion they make a better cup of coffee too). Had the prices at Savoury remained consistent with their menu prices, I would have stayed loyal. Nickel and diming is no way to treat your regulars.
