My boyfriend and I finally tried this place for Saturday brunch after I moved just up the street almost 3 months ago. We were very impressed!! We are major suckers for the nearby Monty's Blue Plate diner, but the long wait times there can get annoying when all we really want is a high quality, delicious breakfast anyways. I am SO glad we came to Daisy Cafe. The restaurant was about 80% full so we were seated immediately at about 11:30 on a Saturday, when it can be tough to get a table in Madison.
Their version of huevos rancheros was pretty unique, as it was served with seasonal roasated veggies and a creamy yet spicy avocado tomatillo salsa. My boyfriend got one of their omelets - something with bacon and cheese. He said it could've used a veggie or two, but I'm sure they could've added something if he had asked. The side potatoes were absolutely wonderful as well; had more than a bit of a kick to them.
I don't think we will ever go for lunch or dinner, I'm not much a meatloaf person and none of the other options on the menu really stood out to me, but as a breakfast place it was perfect.
Service was very friendly. I even noticed a woman next to us was asking for plain tomato juice, and the server searched all over the kitchen until he could find exactly what she wanted. We actually forgot to leave our tip on the table and didn't remember until we left the restaurant - they were totally nice about my mistake when I ran back in with a bunch of bills for the server.
Cupcakes were just alright, I tried a strawberry champagne one but as a chocolate lover I know I'll have to give them another chance at some point. We will be back!
