It was a dark and stormy night, and a Canadian brought me to Kensington Market...
Thus began my journey to Toronto. I asked a friend of a friend to take me somewhere with flavor - with street art and coffee shops. And so we landed in Kensington Market, and I was not disappointed! I saw it in the dark, when most of the shops were closing - and I still liked it.
There were colorful social vagrants smoking weed on various corners to the backdrop of graffiti and worn down falafel joints. You can zig zag through the streets to various open air veggie markets and hipster clothing stores. There are pockets of bars and coffee shops spread throughout the area.
Given the name, I expected this to be a covered mall of sorts - but it's really more of a neighborhood without a big city vibe. The set up makes it feel like there is so much to discover - you just have to weave in and out of the streets to find what you are looking for.
I would love to go back in the day time to taste all of the treats I'm sure are there.
