| - So I read the reviews on here and frankly it pisses me off when people with unreasonable expectations put poor reviews online. For the woman that was dissatisfied with her experience in trying to rehome her puppies...wtf are you doing with puppies to begin with? Are your pets not spayed/neutered? You are whining... all the while contributing to the overpopulation issue. You are seriously griping about people that volunteer their time to help animals? If they don't have fosters available for puppies there is nothing they can do to help you. Is it inconceivable that you press the buttons on your damned phone to call west side rescues? Is it inconceivable that you take an hour or two to drive to the west side to a willing and able foster/rescue? The fact that you live in Scottsdale is not the volunteer's problem, it's yours. You call him uncaring because he didn't serve you to your satisfaction? You think because he's a volunteer that he doesn't care? Clearly you have never spent one moment as a volunteer, much less thought about the word. People that give their time and energy completely for free to benefit others should be thanked, not treated like crap because you weren't catered to appropriately.
For the folks that adopted the cat that had medical concerns. If you want a guarantee of an animal's health, then do research on breeders and buy one there. Anyone with common sense knows that rescue means just that...rescue...it means that the animal was in dire need of food, water and shelter. And since donations don't drop out of the sky, rescues can't afford to give every single animal a dental, disease diagnosis and/or treatment and other surgeries.
You made a choice to get an animal from a rescue...the operative word being "choice."
"...we emailed the Executive Director and several board member with our findings and requested someone please contact us and assume financial responsibility for his health issues" Are you out of your mind? Why do people think that everyone needs to compensate them for this and that? You made a choice, you adopted the animal...you are responsible for the care of the animal. Most people in the world realize this when adopting.
If not for rescues and those that give their time, energy, knowledge and skills, these animals would be headed for euthanasia because of how many stupid people are on this planet letting their animals breed because.."Oh Fluffy would make such a great mom!" or "I just love puppies. I want to fill my house with them!" Bloody hell this crap pisses me off! I'm not an employee or even a volunteer of FAR. But I have worked in the animal care industry in the past as well as volunteered at other rescues. Unless you are completely self-absorbed, you know that getting an animal at any rescue is a crap shoot. They do what they can to save as many animals as possible. So you adopted a rescue animal that had preexisting health issues...big surprise, it's a rescue animal!
For those searching for "The Queen"...seriously...can I vomit now, please? You walk on site of a rescue and pass judgement after, what, fifteen minutes at most? Do you have any idea what stupidity people at shelters have to deal with on a daily basis? Like people that find it difficult to wait beyond 7 or 8 minutes while a volunteer is already busy helping someone else. Oh, but wait, we all need to stop what we are doing to help you...because you are special....because you cannot be made to wait....
I came on here to put up a positive review about the FAR thrift shop, but when I read the reviews, I had to say something. I am so sick and tired of people ripping on businesses and non profits because they weren't served to their liking. These are first world problems that make me want to scream.
As for the thrift shop, it's fantastic! I used to live less than a mile from this location and would stop in a few times a week to see what new goodies were donated. My favorite purchase was the leather Coach mid-calf boots that I bought for $45. I've purchased some great bags and blouses, as well.
The store has a women's and men's section, household and a growing pet section. When my Mother passed away this year, I donated almost everything to the FAR. Even though I moved, I still stop in when I am in the area.
