Will be 4-stars in 2018 when outdated rooms get renovated. Otherwise charming retreat nestled in a desert mountainside.
I have to get my big negative point across before I go into detail, the rooms are thankfully under renovation. The hotel staff told me it was scheduled to be completed by the end of the fall 2017. However in the meantime, please keep in mind that these rooms are outdated. The climate control system is very old-fashioned and my first room it wasn't working at all. The carpets are extremely faded, and should've been replaced years ago. But the size of the room is very good and when they renovate this could become a top destination!
Certainly lots of positives, this hotel complex is nestled in the side of an Arizona desert and makes for an awesome setting! There are conference centers here, all kinds of trails from the main lobby to The different rooms. In the valley there are two beautiful pools connected by a swimming path. Of course there's a bar by the pool and plenty of seating.
The desert landscape is thrilling. There's a small mountain on site with a trail that you can take if you're looking for a little hike in the morning before your meetings. If you want to go for a bigger hike during some down time, a short drive to Pine Canyon Park can get you on some nice trails.
There was a good enough restaurant on site, top of the rock. I've got to be honest, after they renovate the guestrooms I will look to hold offsite meetings and retreats here. Finally it's very close to the airport, maybe a 10 minute ride or so.
The reason for the three stars is because with outdated guest rooms, the price is too high.
Highly recommended after the guest rooms are renovated in 2018. Make sure you check before making your reservation.
