| - Wow. For a gal that usually stays in Super 8's this was awesome. Hey, I'm not cheap, just....frugal.
Came up here for a work meeting across the street at American Eagle and this place was perfect...literally within walking distance, especially in the cool 80 August temps. Remember, I'm from Houston, and the only thing that's in the 80's in August is maybe the low temperatures.
I didn't drive, so I can't speak about parking, but if you get dropped off, you have to take the elevator up a floor to the lobby. Or you could take the stairs, but why drag your suitcases when you don't have to? Just sayin.
It's a huge room that has the little kitchen and separate living room area, and my room had a beautiful view of the river. It was one of the nicest hotel rooms I've stayed in, and the rooftop lounge are was awesome! I met some friends up there for drinks and snacks and we wound up eating dinner there as we didn't want to leave! The dinner was good, a little notch above bar food; I had a chicken and bacon sandwich that they served with chips. The bartenders were great and had a lot of fun joking with them about being from Texas. The view was spectacular and made it hard to go back in the room that night!
When I finally made it to my room, I had to enjoy the fantastic, huge shower, and was definitely ready to crawl into bed. It was super comfy, although I didn't sleep well, that was just due to being alone in unfamiliar surroundings.
I loved getting ready the next morning though, as I found an 80's video station on the TV and be-bopped around singing and dancing. I loved that the place had actual central air conditioning and not just a window unit; that made it easy to get ready in comfort for sure!
There was a complimentary breakfast the next morning with a huge variety of food plus an omelet station. I didn't partake much as I was nervous for my work meeting, but I could have otherwise!
I hated that I was only here for one night, as I sure would have loved to stretch out and relax here! I hope I get to come back, as this was a gorgeous hotel in a beautiful area!
