| - When you can still sing like you did some 25 years ago without skipping a beat, and perform like a diva though your heart is aching after the recent death of your spouse and a sibling. And never cracking or breaking down, you deserve at least 5 stars and more if that were possible! My tip before writing this review was "One word: WOW!" but for my review let's give her 3: WOW! WOW! WOW!
I've always enjoyed the beautiful voice of Ms. Celine Dion, everything from "Beauty and the Beast" to the hauntingly smooth Titanic theme of "My Heart Will Go On". But I was never what you'd call a true fan, since other then the Titanic soundtrack and maybe a Greatest Hits or Best of CD, I've never truly followed her career or album releases. That all changed on last Saturday night with our attendance of Celine at Caesar's Colosseum theater. A very impressive venue I might add. Everything about this show is fantastic. Could you possibly find a better show in Vegas? I don't think so. I also couldn't imagine other backup singers with such silky smooth vocals, or an orchestra quite as polished. And someone else mentioned how great the sound quality is here. Out of this world! That and the amazing lighting and stage effects.
But back to Celine. Not only are her own collection of hits performed flawlessly but when you can start singing other people's hits, and do it well, that's a gift! Can you think of anyone else ever performing such Prince standards as "Purple Rain" or "Kiss" and pull it off convincingly? Or take on the mannerisms of Tina Turner while singing her Phil Spector produced "Rag Doll"? And only a handful of artists have truly pulled off "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" and hung with Judy Garland. Celine channels feeling into her performances like few other artists around today. But the highlight for me, photo included, is her encore show stopper singing her "My Heart Will Go On". Breathtaking! I won't totally spoil it for you but as you view my photo, think Titanic's storyline while looking at the stage and lighting effects and what the substance surrounding her consists of. I had never seen anything like it on stage before. And a photo doesn't nearly do it justice. "No Video Recordings Please".
The wife and I spent a fortune on these tickets, but Celine is worth every penny of it!!!
