I don't go for a 90 minute massage to get upset. Having just gone into the dry cleaner nearby, I decided to go for a relaxing massage at 5pm today. I walked into this empty spa with one asian girl working and asked for a 90 minute massage. Cost on wall said $45.00. With extremely bad English speaking skills, she told me for $6.00 more I could have a deep massage which would include my back. I agreed. Within 10 minutes I knew my decision to go here was a mistake. Her cell phone was nearby and text messages were constantly being sent to her and beeps could be heard the entire time. The massage? It was far from a deep massage. 20 minutes were spent on each foot and calf with a repetitive rubbing that I could not wait to end. When I asked for more pressure all I felt was a sharp thumbnail even though she was wearing gloves!
The relaxing music? The same 3 acoustic oriental songs played over and over again for 90 minutes. Telling myself to try and enjoy the massage, FINALLY, the last 15 minutes she climbed on my back where I was able to enjoy the deep pressure and the hot stones. That was when I decided I would give 2 stars instead of one. Then, the main phone line rang and she got up to answer it. It was a customer wanting two massages at 8pm. She said that was not possible but that 6 pm was available for two people. Listening to this 5 minute conversation was excruciating because it was actually already 6:15 pm. The customer kept trying to get her to understand that, and finally she realized that the time already passed and said 7 pm. Then she had to make a call to have another masseur come to the store. Exactly at 6:30pm I went to the counter to pay her $51.00 for the massage plus $10.00 for a tip. She told me that it was $15.00 for the tip when one gets a 90 minute massage and that a $10.00 tip was when someone gets a 60 minute massage. (Her English now improved because it was obvious it was memorized.) I showed her the sign that she has posted on the wall that shows a tipping menu: happy is $10.00, very happy is $15.00. Wanting to tell her all the issues I had but impossible when one doesn't understand, I told her I gave her 20 percent. I asked her name and she wouldn't tell me. She gave me a disgusted look and I walked out. Do yourself a favor and DON'T WALK IN. There are other places that appreciate clients and do a great massage!
