The Children's Storefront is what keeps me sane some days. I go in with my baby, we sit on the floor and she plays with toys and watches other children play while I chat with other parents and caregivers. My daughter's still quite young - 7 1/2 months - so she can't quite join in all the games she sees the other kids playing but she's quite intrigued. Sometimes older kids come and play with her a bit before rushing off to play with the train set or to run around and climb over foam structures.
There are so many toys to play with and books to read - for children of various ages. It's really such a great resource in the community. Not only that but Tuesday through Thursday they serve a warm vegetarian lunch for 5$. I haven't yet tried it but have only heard really good things about it. They also have some activities for older kids on some days in the early afternoons. They keep their website updated with a calendar of what's happening for that week including closures, what will be served for lunches, and what activities are taking place so it's actually worth checking their website.
Being a new parent can be very isolating. The storefront helps break that isolation and makes it easier to connect with other parents in the community.
