| - My husband and I picked up a truck rental on Sunday, October 2 for a one way rental to Reno to move our son. The check in process was fine, waited about 15 minutes, they finally pulled someone out of the back room because the line was getting longer. Very nice and customer service oriented man helped us (sorry, don't remember his name). We were scheduled to return it to the Budget Truck/car rental location on Marietta Way in Reno by Wednesday, October 6 for a 3 day rental. Everything went downhill from there. After loading the truck all day Monday, Tuesday morning we were to leave at 6am, and the truck wouldn't start. Seemed like the battery or starter was the problem as you had to jiggle the key around, but then it started, but when we pushed the gas pedal, the truck would die. We tried again, finally got it going. We weren't sure if we should get another truck rental, or keep going. We chose to keep going as it seemed to be running okay. We decided to stop at a gas station heading out of town to top off the tank and the truck wouldn't start again. Same problem. However we got it going again. We had a dilemma, We would have to return the truck and unload it to get another one, or wait to get it fixed but we HAD to get to Reno that day to move and had a flight back to Las Vegas the next morning. We decided to risk taking the truck all the way to Reno, but we never shut off the truck again, even when filling the gas tank as we were afraid we would get stuck in the middle of Nevada with it not starting. The truck ran fine as long as we didn't turn it off. We made it all the way. We unloaded in Reno with the engine running, and I called the 800 Budget number to see if we could do an after hours drop off at the Marietta Way location and the rep said no. So we ran the risk of turning off the truck for our overnight stay, as we would need return it the next morning. Of course, The next morning, the truck would not start and we tried and could NOT get it to turn over. I called for roadside assistance, told them we had to catch a flight in a few hours and had to leave the truck where it was parked. They said they would first send a mechanic, but if it had to be towed, we might be charged for the tow...I said "what"? are you kidding me? your truck has been nothing but problems and you are going to charge for a tow?? they said its in the contract we signed. unbelievable. anyways, we called Uber to pick us up as we had a flight to catch back to Las Vegas. After about 30 minutes, we tried again, and the truck started, so the Uber driver followed us to the Marietta Way location, we dropped off the truck and found out they DO have after hours drop off which could have been done the night before when the truck was running. SO frustrating. We told the reps at the Marietta Way location, PLEASE make sure you don't rent this truck to someone else before getting it fixed. However, they said it started fine for them. We left not knowing if they rented it again or not.
