| - As far as venues go, this one is probably one of the best I've been to. I prefer the more intimate shows, where you can get up close to the musician you've come to see, as opposed to stadiums, where you can see the artist through a good pair of binoculars, and if you forgot those you can see tiny little people on a stage far far away, or on a monitor - which is basically like watching their live performance on YouTube. Anyway, this venue is new and clean, and very very aware of their name, with pictures of Martin Van Buren hanging up in the hall near the restroom, and a statue of his upper body near the door as you walk in. It's their theme - I get it. The large chandelier hanging in the lobby as you walk in is quite eye-catching too.
Ok, so the stage setup for the show (Alt-J) was quite nice, lots of acutely timed lights and lasers to go along with the band's brand of eclectic indie rock. The sound was good too, and we could see the band very clearly from where we stood about six rows of people back. I would definitely return for more shows at this place.
