| - Being a "local" in Carefree, it is easy to overlook the gems sitting right in our back yard. We probably frequent the Carefree Station four or five times per year, and always walk away quite satisfied with our dining experience. To start with, beer menu is larger than some places wine list, six pages of brews to satisfy any beer drinkers taste, and at reasonable prices. Though the place was crowded, staff was very attentive and helpful. We started with crab cakes, which had large chunks of crab. The only down side was there could have been more crab and less filler. For a main course, we had the lamb chops, where you are able to select the number of chops you like, and the shrimp tacos from the Spa Mex menu, which is billed as healthy Mexican food. The chops were nicely seared and cooked as requested. The shrimp tacos come with thin slices of jicama instead of tortillas, a delightful change from traditional Mexican fare. The side with the tacos was grilled vegetables, but caution, the grilled pepper was on the hot side and had me sweating.
All in all a great meal. I think we will be returning more often.
