  • No matter what your situation, whether you're a college student, have a young family, or are somebody trying to get on their feet after moving to Champaign-Urbana for work, Parkside is going to be a perfect fit for you. There are quite a few highlights so I hope I can cover them all in this review. First and foremost, the apartments themselves are gorgeous. I believe they are remodeled recently, mine certainly seems to be. Especially when you consider the price you're paying for rent, this is phenomenal. I looked at a few complexes in the area and nothing came close to the units at Parkside in terms of livability and cleanliness. Aside from the unit which I live in, the buildings themselves and the common areas such as the hallways and laundry rooms are immaculate as well. I've lived in apartments where I'm so turned off by the laundry room that I'd go weeks recycling dirty outfits. Not the case here, as the laundry rooms are exceptionally clean. Outside of the units, the grounds are very well groomed and there are doggie bag stations proximal to every building which is a God-send, especially in the winter. In addition to those strategically placed clean-up stations, there is a lot of green space on the property which is aesthetically pleasing and functional as well. The entire property is surrounded by a gate which looks nice and also makes the amount of non-residents walking through non-existent and makes me feel safe about living here. Location-wise you couldn't ask for a better apartment. There are gas stations, a Walgreen's, CVS, Papa John's, and a McDonald's right around the corner. There is a County Market within walking distance and the Meijer is just a short bus ride away. There is a really nice park a few minutes walk away which is especially nice if you have kids because there's a full playground, complete with a climbing wall and a swing set. I don't have a car but that doesn't even matter because the award winning MTD picks up and drops off right in front of the property. I work in downtown Urbana, and take the 5W Green to work every day. It's less than a ten minute ride to downtown, fifteen minutes to campustown, and a couple more minutes to downtown Champaign. When the weather gets nice, I ride my bike everywhere. Parkside is right on Florida Avenue which has a wide bike path on either side of the road. If you're a cyclist you know how awesome this is! The staff is another high point of this property. you get the idea that they actually care about their tenants which is something that was foreign to me after living in other complexes in the area. The maintenance guys are really good about responding promptly to maintenance requests. A small problem here will be fixed immediately, as opposed to other places I've lived where it takes them weeks, if not months, to remedy the problem. The property manager is really friendly as well. I feel comfortable stopping by her office if I have any questions or concerns. She's really good about keeping in contact and replying to emails in a prompt fashion. In terms of the kind of people that live here, there is a good mix of young professionals, small families, and college students. Do not be alarmed, the majority of students I know here are grad students so if that's any indication you know they're the studious type, and not the party variety which means my building is kept clean and quiet. I think I pretty much covered everything, but just to reiterate: I've lived in 5 different apartment complexes in my life and Parkside is, all things considered, the acme of places I've lived. Considering living space, location, staff, and neighbors, other properties in Champaign-Urbana simply can't compare to Parkside.
