  • I first went to Nevada Eye Care about 6 years ago. I saw Dr. Stewart Park for a corneal ulcer. He took good care of me and I was happy with their practice. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago. I again had pain and light sensitivity in one of my eyes. I called to make an appointment. I couldn't remember the name of the doctor I'd seen before so I made the appointment with whomever was available. It was Dr. Paul Casey. I waited between 45-60 minutes but they squeezed me in on short notice, it was the end of the day, and I was in pain and so I was willing to wait. I waited between 30-60 minutes for 3 out of the 4 appointments I made there over a week's time. The only one where I got in and out really fast was the one at 8:00 am when I was one of the first patients of the day. The office staff at the sign-in/sign-out desks were very friendly and willing to work with me to schedule appointments. The people who take you back weren't as friendly but I didn't spend much time with them so no big deal. I waited in the exam room for another 20 minutes or so while Dr. Casey dealt with two other patients in other rooms. They didn't close the doors to those rooms and Dr. Casey has a loud voice so I heard all the details about their eye conditions including one elderly woman with diabetes-related eye issues and one pregnant woman with glaucoma. I'm pretty sure HIPAA laws were being violated and I would hesitate to return to this practice because of that issue. Dr. Casey finally made his way into my room and after a rundown of my symptoms and a questioning of my contact lens wearing habits, he proceeded to scold me about wearing my contact lenses overnight and lecture me about FDA approval which is NOT in alignment with this practitioner's (and many others' as well) view of extended wear contacts. I worked for an ophthalmologist and optometrist in my 20s and 30s so I know there are risks of wearing contacts continuously. While Dr. Casey didn't know that, he did know that I'm an adult and can make my own decisions about what I'm willing to risk. I get that he was giving me his best opinion and is obligated to do so as a medical professional. What I disapproved of was his tone and demeanor with me. He treated me like a naughty, stupid child and I REALLY disliked that. So much so, that all my follow-up appointments were made with a different doctor. My care there was excellent (even by Dr. Casey) and my eye problem is gone with no lingering ill effects. I would have subtracted three stars for the HIPAA violation and my antipathy for Dr. Casey. However, all the rest of my appointments were with Dr. Park whose face I remembered from 6 years ago. I really like Dr. Park. He also didn't close the door and I'm baffled why they don't do that. But my appointments were quick check-ups and I was in and out fast (once I got into the exam room, that is) and I didn't want to have to start over somewhere else in the middle of treatment. I gave them back another star for Dr. Park and for the desk staff that squeezed me in for appointments a couple times. All that said, I don't think I'll go back there as I don't want my private eye issues broadcast for other patients to hear nor do I want to hear about someone else's diabetes or glaucoma.
