| - My husband and I went to the DMV at 8 a.m. to change our licenses and plates to Nevada licenses and plates. We were prepared for the worst: we had documents in triplicate, birth certificates, passports, marriage licenses, and character references from our 5th-grade music teachers. So when we pulled up at 8:03 and saw the line of people snaking around the building...we saw our lives flashing before our eyes.
But guys, get this: it didn't get any worse than that.
Yes, we waited in line for nearly 40 minutes to speak to the woman at the Information desk. Once we were there, she was incredibly helpful, making sure we had all our documents in order before signing us up for the texting service that would allow us to leave the building and wait elsewhere.
We'd barely made it to the parking lot when we received the 7-minute warning text telling us to head back to the building. Which was actually a problem--we still had to do the VIN check and smog check on both our cars!
So we lost our place in line. But then: we received another text, telling us we could re-join the line within twenty minutes. It worked like a dream. We finished our vehicle stuff, headed back inside texted J to Join, and were called to Desk 23 within three minutes.
I don't know any names, unfortunately, but the two women we worked with were very helpful and patient with us, even though our transaction took upwards of an hour to complete. It appeared there was one woman training. She didn't slow down the process at all. I also enjoyed watching the other DMV workers pass behind their desk. They seemed to like working with each other. They were all very calm and helpful.
Going to the DMV can be a really stressful thing. All told, we were there for two hours, but we had a lot of stuff to do, and we came prepared. I'm very, very happy with the experience we had at the Sahara DMV today.
