  • I love this studio and the classes!! I've been coming here on-and-off for the past 2 years. Compared to my first studio that I went to in the past (it had no shower curtains and, even more disgusting, a CARPETED studio floor) Mitra Hot Yoga is way better BY FAR. Why do I love this place? 1) The place is super clean and has all the basics. The studio, showers, change rooms, hallways and front desk areas are clean. It's something I learned to really appreciate when this place makes people sweat so much and having the experience of the first aforementioned studio. There's filtered water to fill up water bottles, SHOWER CURTAINS, hand towels, blow dryers. I'm usually squeamish about going bare feet in public places - but not at Mitra Hot Yoga. 2) The staff/instructors lead a wonderful experiences and are super nice. I cannot think of a class where I did not like the experience or an instructor. They're very helpful, always promoting awareness of our breath and practicing yoga that reflects personal comfort/ability. They always have ways to modify poses to make the practice easier/harder - never being rude, judgemental or overly "pushy" about doing things outside of our comfort zone. 3) Different instructors brings a different flare to the practice. All of them concentrate on our breathing but, between different instructors, some like to concentrate more on proper technique, others explain how certain motions affect specific muscles, some focus on more core work and some more meditative. Some with music, some without. The movements are similar but what each instructor offers - in sequence (of poses), focus and ambiance - are quite different. It's always a challenging and not boring class. 4) Studio is large and well-equipped. The place looks really tiny on the outside and almost middle of no where. But once you enter the studio, it's HUGE so space isn't an issue. I guess it also depends on the yoga class. I usually do hot yoga in the summer (where I get time off as a teacher) and go to the noon classes during the weekday and sometimes weekends. The studio also provides blocks, straps and therapy balls to use. My recommendations: - Going to the noon classes for smaller group - Bringing your own yoga mat. Yes, they rent out mats for a small fee but think of all the people that have used it in the past and how much sweat might be on it... - It would be nice if the studio had spray bottles for people to clean their own yoga mats. - Showering right after class. After class, you're covered in sweat and it's icky. So bring a bottle of not-so-smelly shampoo and set of clean clothes. I hate getting my car seats dirty or getting on a bus all sweaty. Many people go home right away but I guess each to their own... - Come to class at least 15 minutes early. Gives you time to change, drink water, find a spot and get used to the hot room. - Tie up your hair to a high bun/ponytail and wearing minimal clothing. Sports bra with shorts, bathing suit, tank tops with shorts. - You MUST have a water bottle.
