| - I first took my cats to this vet a year ago after moving from Portland to Scottsdale. Our first visit was ok. I didn't love the office like my old one, but thought it was ok.
I called earlier this week to make an appointment to have our cat put to sleep, and was told that when we arrived we would check in and be taken back to a room immediately so our cat didn't have to sit in the waiting room. I made an appointment with Dr. Ketchmark since we had seen him before.
Upon arriving, I sat in the waiting room and was ignored for 15 minutes. In that time, there was only one other person in the waiting room, so it's not like it was crazy busy. I was clearly upset and crying a bit, so perhaps they didn't want to deal with me?
When someone finally came over she asked "what are we seeing Daisy for today?" Daisy was the other person's animal. NOT a cat, but a dog. I told her that she was there to be euthanized (hello, do you not keep notes in your appointment book???) and was told to come back to a room.
Once back in the room she asked which doctor I wanted to see. Again, do you not keep appointment notes????? And then left me to wait for the doctor.
Dr. Ketchmark himself was fine. He explained the procedure to me and gave my cat the first shot. I could hear the staff laughing and chatting which was a bit unnerving considering why we were there. Maybe put people in this situation in a room that isn't right off the front lobby? He was pleasant and thoughtful when treating her, and both he & the vet tech expressed their condolences.
All in all, I wouldn't go back to them again for a situation like this. Total lack of sensitivity from the reception staff and clearly some disorganization. A decision to put an animal down isn't one that I take lightly, and I would prefer some consideration from the office staff treating her.
